United States History

The original Kawasaki company has been in Japan for many more years than the American Kawasaki Motorcycle Corporation, which arose during the 1960s. This enterprise was founded in an abandoned meat-packing warehouse in Chicago, Illinois, to let Kawasaki enter the United States marketplace.

The company started their American venture by manufacturing two-stroke motorcycles under the Omega brand. Because American riders craved heavier bikes that were more powerful, Kawasaki developed and released the popular Samurai and Avenger families to meet these needs.
 

Industry Pioneers

The Mach III sportbike rolled off of Kawasaki’s assembly lines in 1969, taking the world by storm. In 1973, this bike was followed by the Z1, which only served to further increase the company’s popularity and profile. The Z1 had the most powerful four-stroke engine ever built at the time encased in its lightweight frame. This model and others allowed Kawasaki to create a distribution network that united customers and dealers to provide both with a better experience.
 

Additional Vehicles

Not only does Kawasaki excel at manufacturing motorcycles, but they are also known for their swift personal watercraft, which were released in 1973. Kawasaki all-terrain vehicles were released in 1981 as three-wheelers, then they became four-wheelers by 1985. The MULE™ line of utility vehicles by Kawasaki is also extremely popular with professionals, amateurs and recreational riders alike.
