Thinking about the snowmobile off-season approaching can be a tough time for sled enthusiasts. Despite that, it's important to take the proper steps when putting your snowmobile away for the off-season so you don't run into any issues for the next season. As your local snowmobile dealer, we've put together a short to-do list to ensure the best hibernation for your sled.

We highly recommend speaking with a service technician if you're a first-time snowmobile owner. You can contact our maintenance department in Sheridan, Wyoming if you have any questions or need additional services completed.

Cleaning & Fueling

While we recommend cleaning your snowmobile after every trip, the wash before long-term storage is extremely important. You would hate to start the next season with corrosion or damage to your favorite snowmobile. Once clean, many experts recommend filling your tank to at least halfway and then adding a fuel stabilizer to prevent evaporation.

Fogging the Engine

There are plenty of folks who like to run their snowmobile's engine a few times during the off-season to prevent engine problems. Even still, it is recommended to coat your engine with storage fogging oil to protect it from air and moisture which leads to corrosion.

It will depend on your engine and model type so definitely contact a professional if you're not sure.

Store Wisely

Lastly, there are a lot of factors to consider for how you store your sled. Costs, space availability, location, weather, and the number of snowmobiles owned are just a few of the many things to think about for storage. No matter where or how you store it, do your research, and evaluate your options.
