When the weather gets cold, not all UTV owners put their vehicles in storage. For some, winter is a time to enjoy another side of nature, and they won’t allow a little cold to keep them from that. With these tips from Peak Powersports LLC,  you can keep warm and enjoy a fun day riding your UTV during the winter.

Upgrade Your UTV

There are many ways you can upgrade your UTV to help you stay warm during winter rides, but here are the two most important ones:

An Enclosed Cab

While an enclosed cab isn’t necessary for a summer ride and would be extremely uncomfortable during the hottest months of the year, they are perfect for protecting a side-by-side rider from wind chill in cold weather.

Whether you choose to install an enclosed cab produced by your UTV’s manufacturer or a non-OEM model is up to you. Keep in mind that both hard panel cabs, which are more expensive but offer greater protection, and soft panel cabs, which offer less protection but are more affordable, are both better than nothing. Above all else, try to find a cab that will form a tight seal with your side-by-side so that warm air will remain inside.

Heaters

Heaters are a simple but effective way to stay warm, and can even help prevent your windshield from fogging up. There are many choices when it comes to vent placement, including one large vent under the center of the dash or multiple smaller vents placed throughout the vehicle. Many UTV owners will be able to install these upgrades themselves, although there is no shame in asking a professional for help.

Upgrade Your Riding Gear

Your usual riding gear likely won’t keep you warm during a ride. Find a face visor or snowmobile helmet with features that help prevent them from fogging up, and consider using a balaclava. Heated gloves will keep your fingers warm, while waterproof boots will keep your feet dry. As always, layered clothing will help keep you warm. You can also look for electrically heated clothing, which uses your UTV’s battery to help keep you warm.
